When I started CrossFit about a year ago I had no idea what I was getting myself into.
I had just turned 40, and as a stay-at-home parent of two young girls, I just wanted to go and get some exercise while my girls were at school. I saw CrossFit COL and thought I’d give it a try.
CrossFit COL is exactly what I didn’t know I was looking for! I love that the work outs are always varied, which keeps it interesting. Each exercise can be scaled to any level, so that as a beginner I was doing a safe and slightly modified version of what the seasoned CrossFitters were doing. Slowly, over the weeks and months that followed, I worked my way through progressions of each exercise and I have found myself mastering skills I never dreamt I’d ever be able to do a year ago. I can now do pull-ups, hand stand push ups AND climb the rope. It’s been an incredible challenge and I feel amazed about the skills and strength I’ve gained.
During all this hard work, I’ve had an absolute blast!! The community at CrossFit COL is amazing. I always look forward to coming to work out, and getting a chance to catch up with people afterwards. On top of all that, the coaches are knowledgeable and encouraging, the programming is excellent, and the “box” itself is bright and clean.
I feel healthier and more confident than I’ve felt in years! And as a bonus, I can be a role model for my 2 young girls to show them what a strong and active lifestyle looks like!
