WHAT IS Sport team training?
Sport Team Training is a strength and conditioning program designed for 12-17 year old athletes. The program focuses on the sport specific needs for each athlete. We combine age-appropriate weightlifting and gymnastics with high intensity training to deliver optimal fitness and performance. Proper weightlifting techniques are taught under the watchful eye of our certified trainers to enhance strength and power, while also focusing on basic gymnastics to increase agility, mobility and flexibility.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Each program begins with a specific Functional Movement Screen test with our athletes. The FMS helps to establish mobility/stability limitations and give the correct fixes to ensure the athlete can first move correctly. We strongly believe proper movement patterns are essential for the athlete to optimize performance.
Sports Team Training typically runs 2-3x per week. The days and times will be determined by the availability of the athlete(s) and the program. Training generally lasts an hour in duration. Each athlete at a specific age needs to demonstrate competency in barbell movements for sports: The Squat, Deadlift, Power Clean and even Bench. We work to develop peak acceleration, power/strength, speed and agility. Sports Team Training addresses all 10 of the general physical principles of fitness: cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, accuracy, and balance.
Cost will be determined by the number of athletes that take part and the level of commitment. Athletes will go through a sport specific periodization plan to gear them up for the next season. We will start with proper balance and movement during the accumulation phase. From there we will progress to more specific training for their sport around their absolute strength, strength speed, anaerobic alactate power, lactate endurance, local muscular endurance and their anaerobic threshold.
